Lilly attacked Patricia Agnello, who operates the “Helping Paws 22” dog rescue organization from her home, and her prospective “fur mom” Shelley Loudermilk, who had driven all the way from Columbus, Georgia, to adopt Lilly the lickable love bug.
Patricia’s son Christopher Agnello said he ran outside and “jumped on” the dog when he saw it attack his mother and Loudermilk. Lilly responded by ripping at Agnello’s face.
Neighbor Marie Wilton called 911 after she witnessed the savage attack; she then ran into the Agnellos’ yard with a knife and stabbed Lilly in the rib cage to make her stop attacking.
The Agnellos were then able to subdue Lilly, muzzle her, and place her inside a kennel.
By the time cops showed up, Lilly had died from her stab wounds.
Patricia Agnello and Shelley Loudermilk were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with lacerations and puncture wounds.

Broward County animal control officers stated they had given Lilly to Ms. Agnello three weeks ago to be placed up for adoption through “Helping Paws 22,” which rescues dogs at high risk for euthanization. I looked at their Facebook page, and of course saw mostly pit bulls with a sprinkling of other maulers such as a pit-boxer mix, and a couple of Rotties.
Oh well – another love bug bites the dust. Didn’t we just read about a man who had to stab his pit bull to death before it killed him? Ah yes, here it is – the one about Joseph Murray in New York.
